So19 converses with contemporary authors writing about 19th-century issues, themes, history and experience. ¶ New interviews and other features are published on our online journal regular. ¶ We offer lively and wide-ranging dialogue that's intelligent but not academic, thoughtful but not pedantic: writing that's as diverse and engaging as the work (and the century) we discuss. ¶ We showcase the work of emerging as well as established authors in fiction and nonfiction. ¶ Lyricism, snark, the occasional moment of rapture, the even more occasional moment of disdain, and plain old good prose are all on the metaphorical menu. ¶ Though an irrational passion for the 19th century is assumed, we're more often playful, inquiring and/or contrarian than worshipful. {continued}
